San Diego County has launched a new online dashboard that tracks flu, COVID-19 and RSV vaccination rates across the region.

The County News Center announced the interactive tool during the week of Friday, Sept. 11. The dashboard, hosted on the county's Health and Human Services Agency website, is updated weekly and covers all three major respiratory viruses heading into fall.

Dr. Sayone Thihalolipavan, the county public health officer and a board-certified physician in public health and preventive medicine, urged residents to act. "These recommendations are rooted in current science, including safety and efficacy," Thihalolipavan said in the Sept. 11 announcement. "Let's protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities by getting vaccinated."

The county's fall vaccination push aligns with guidance from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the West Coast Health Alliance. Groups at highest risk include infants, young children, older adults, pregnant people, residents of group settings and health-care workers, according to the county.

Del Mar flu clinic set for Sept. 18

Del Mar Community Connections will hold its annual flu shot clinic on Friday, Sept. 18, from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the patio of the Del Mar Community Building. Flu shots and COVID boosters will be available free to community members who bring a Medicare card, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported. Registration is available at www.dmcc.cc/fluclinic or by calling (858) 792-7565.

The clinic is free for Medicare cardholders.

No Solana Beach or Rancho Santa Fe flu clinic events have been announced for September. Residents countywide can schedule vaccines through a health-care provider or at MyTurn.ca.gov, the state's vaccine scheduling portal.

Uninsured or underinsured residents may visit a county public health center for immunizations. Those whose insurance covers vaccines are not eligible at county centers, even with co-pays or deductibles. The San Diego County Immunization Unit can be reached at (866) 358-2966 for eligibility questions.

The dashboard will be updated weekly throughout the fall respiratory virus season.
