Kids take center stage at the Del Mar Library on Wednesday, Aug. 19, when British comedy magician Billy Bonkers brings his interactive show to the former church turned library at 1309 Camino Del Mar.

The one-hour performance runs from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The San Diego County Library's event listing describes it as a free, drop-in event with no registration required. However, the library is capping attendance at 80 people on a first-come, first-served basis due to space limitations, according to the Del Mar Library's Instagram post promoting the show.

The City of Del Mar announced the event on Tuesday, Aug. 18, describing the show as "jam-packed with interactive magic" where children become the stars of the performance. Billy Bonkers, billed as Southern California's only British family entertainer, blends comedy and audience participation throughout the act.

The show is part of the San Diego County Library's Summer at Your Library program, which runs through Monday, Aug. 31. The Del Mar branch, a century-old Craftsman with a high-arched, beamed ceiling, serves as a regular venue for children's programming. The building's original church architecture gives it acoustics well-suited for live performances.

Families who arrive after the 80-person limit is reached will be turned away. The library's phone number is (858) 755-1666.
