San Diego County voters who want a mail ballot for the Nov. 3 general election must register by Monday, Oct. 26, according to the San Diego County Registrar of Voters.

Every active registered voter in the county has already received a ballot by mail, the registrar's office said. Voters who miss Monday's deadline can still register conditionally and cast a provisional ballot in person, but they will not receive a mail ballot.

Del Mar, Solana Beach and Rancho Santa Fe residents have several nearby options for returning ballots and voting in person.

Local ballot drop boxes

Five official drop boxes serve the three communities:

  • Del Mar Civic Center, 1050 Camino del Mar — open 24 hours through Nov. 2
  • Del Mar Branch Library, 1309 Camino del Mar — open during library hours (closed Sundays and Mondays)
  • Solana Beach Branch Library, 157 Stevens Ave. — open 24 hours through Nov. 2
  • Rancho Santa Fe Branch Library, 17040 Avenida de Acacias — open 24 hours through Nov. 2
  • Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District, 18027 Calle Ambiente — open 24 hours through Nov. 2

All drop boxes close at 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Local vote centers

Three vote centers will open Saturday, Oct. 31, and operate through Nov. 3:

  • St. Peters Episcopal Parish Hall, 334 14th St., Del Mar
  • Solana Beach City Council Chambers, 635 S. Hwy. 101, Solana Beach
  • 1st Church of Christ Scientist School Room, 6165 La Flecha, Rancho Santa Fe

While some county vote centers open Saturday, Oct. 24, none of the Del Mar, Solana Beach or Rancho Santa Fe locations are among them. Residents who want to vote in person before Oct. 31 can visit the registrar's office at 5600 Overland Ave. in Kearny Mesa, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

On Election Day, all vote centers and the registrar's office will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Returning your ballot

Voters can return completed ballots by mail with no postage required, at any official drop box or at any open vote center. Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3 and signed by the voter. Ballots returned at drop boxes or vote centers are due by 8 p.m. Nov. 3.

The registrar's office noted this election uses a two-card ballot. Voters planning to visit a vote center can save time by marking selections on their sample ballot at home and bringing it along.

Voters can register online, check their registration status or request a paper form by calling 800-696-0136. More information is available at sdvote.com or by calling 858-565-5800.
