Retired real estate developer Dick Clotfelter will speak at La Flecha House in Rancho Santa Fe on Thursday, Oct. 15. The talk is part of the Rancho Santa Fe Historical Society's "Stories from the Ranch" quarterly series.
Clotfelter will discuss his new book, "Truth & Trust: Resilience & Strong Relationships Build Lasting Success," during the 5 to 7 p.m. event at 6036 La Flecha in Rancho Santa Fe. Wine and snacks will be provided.
The talk is free for Historical Society members. Non-members pay $35.
A former Rancho Santa Fe Association board director, Clotfelter traces his career from service in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959 to 1962 through years at Coldwell Banker commercial real estate and later work as a developer, according to the publisher's listing. The book also covers decades of community involvement stretching from 1965 to 2020.
The Clotfelter family's connection to Rancho Santa Fe stretches back roughly 100 years, the Rancho Santa Fe Post reported in an August preview of the speaker series. In the book, Clotfelter explores the importance of resilience, strong relationships and the trust that holds people together over time, the RSF Post noted.
La Flecha House, where the talk will be held, was the first electrified house in North County San Diego, according to a 2023 RSF Post profile. The house celebrated its centennial that year and sits at the heart of the Rancho Santa Fe historic district.
"Stories from the Ranch" is a quarterly program the Historical Society describes as a chance to hear "some little-known stories of Rancho Santa Fe," according to the society's website.
Residents who want to attend should RSVP to Membership Director Christian Potter at [email protected]. More details are available on the Historical Society's event page.
The Historical Society has not announced its next speaker or date for the quarterly series.
