San Diego County residents have until Monday, Sept. 14 to tell the Board of Supervisors what the county should fight for in Sacramento and Washington next year.

The deadline applies to Del Mar, Solana Beach and Rancho Santa Fe residents, who as county constituents can help shape the 2027 Legislative Program. Residents can weigh in online at engage.sandiegocounty.gov or by email at [email protected].

The legislative program sets the board's policy goals and directs the county's Economic Development and Government Affairs (EDGA) office as it tracks and takes positions on state and federal legislation year-round, according to the County News Center. The program covers three areas: sponsorship proposals, priority issues and policy guidelines.

So far this year, the county has taken positions on 16 state and federal bills across five priorities: safeguarding the social safety net, advancing housing solutions, bolstering the behavioral health system, ensuring safe communities and responding to the Tijuana River Valley sewage crisis.

The county held a virtual community forum on the 2027 program Aug. 25. A recording is available on the Engage San Diego County website.

During the 2026 Legislative Program cycle, the county received 189 public comments and 45 people joined the virtual forum. The county called that more than double the prior year's turnout. Comments came from nearly 45% of county zip codes. The Board of Supervisors adopted the 2026 program on Dec. 9, 2025.

After the comment period closes, the Board of Supervisors is scheduled to consider and vote on the 2027 Legislative Program at its Tuesday, Dec. 8 meeting.
