The Boys & Girls Club of Northwest San Diego will screen "The Book of Life" outdoors at La Colonia Park on Sept. 19, with free food, live music and community booths open to all Solana Beach families.
The event runs 6 to 9 p.m. at 715 Valley Ave. in Solana Beach. The animated film begins at dusk. Admission is free, and no registration is required.
Jake's Del Mar is providing complimentary dinner, and Solana Frosty is supplying dessert. Both are available while supplies last.
The La Colonia Community Foundation and the Solana Beach Civic and Historical Society are co-sponsoring the evening alongside the Boys & Girls Club, according to the city of Solana Beach's events page. The city's listing frames the night as a way for families to squeeze in one more outdoor gathering before summer ends.
La Colonia Park sits in the heart of Solana Beach's La Colonia neighborhood, a historically tight-knit community along Valley Avenue. The park has hosted youth programming and neighborhood gatherings for decades.
The Boys & Girls Club of Northwest San Diego formed in July 2024 when the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito merged with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside. The combined organization now serves more than 13,000 youth annually across eight clubhouses, making it San Diego County's second-largest Boys & Girls Club organization, according to Hoodline.
