Knightsbridge, the Godolphin-owned colt who won the Grade 1 Pacific Classic by 6¼ lengths, was named 2026 Horse of the Meet at Del Mar.

A panel of media members voted on the award after the summer meet concluded Monday, Sept. 7, according to the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. The son of Nyquist also took home the Top Older Horse honor.

Knightsbridge's $1 million Pacific Classic victory over Full Serrano anchored his case. Jockey Junior Alvarado, trainer Bill Mott and owner Godolphin are the same jockey, trainer and owner behind Sovereignty, the 2025 Horse of the Year. Mott earned his fifth career Eclipse Award as outstanding trainer with that horse, according to America's Best Racing.

The pick was not unanimous. Del Mar Futurity winner Hughes, Del Mar Mile and Wickerr Stakes winner King of Gosford and Grade 2 Eddie Read winner Gold Phoenix also received votes.

Gold Phoenix, the Irish-bred gelding trained by Philip D'Amato and ridden by Hector I. Berrios, won Top Grass Horse for the third time in four years. He earned the same award in 2023 and 2024. Test Score, who denied Gold Phoenix a fifth consecutive win in the Grade 2 Del Mar Handicap, finished second in the voting.

Eunomia, winner of the Grade 1 Clement L. Hirsch for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr., was named Top Older Filly/Mare. Micah Husbands rode the filly, owned by St. Elias Stables and WSS Racing.

Listenupshance, the Grade 1 Bing Crosby winner trained by Doug O'Neill, edged Iron Man Cal for Top Sprinter. Jockey Emisael Jaramillo was in the irons. O'Neill also clinched the meet's leading-trainer title with 26 wins from 111 starters, his first since 2019, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Proletariat took Top 3-Year-Old after winning twice at the meet. The gelded son of Raging Bull captured the $150,000 Oceanside Stakes on opening day and followed with the Grade 2 Del Mar Derby. Jeff Mullins trains the colt; Kyle Frey rode him.

Tam Tam, Hughes and Miss Monica were all unanimous selections in their divisions.

Tam Tam, winner of the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks, was the clear Top 3-Year-Old Filly. Trained by Philip Bauer and ridden by Alvarado, the daughter of Medaglia d'Oro is owned by Rigney Racing.

Bob Baffert swept the juvenile awards. Hughes, the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity winner, was the unanimous Top 2-Year-Old.

Miss Monica, who won the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante by 6¼ lengths on Saturday, Sept. 5, was the unanimous Top 2-Year-Old Filly. Juan Hernandez rode both juveniles.

"I knew she's a special filly, and I knew that if she got the right kind of trip, she should win," Baffert said after Miss Monica's Debutante victory on Saturday, Sept. 5. The win was Baffert's 13th in the Debutante since 1995.
