The Solana Beach Library will hold a special Saturday opening on Oct. 3 for a free Clean Air Day celebration. The event brings together half a dozen local organizations for live music, activities and prizes.
The celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library, 157 Stevens Ave. Residents who bike there will be eligible for prizes, according to the city of Solana Beach.
Admission is free.
The Friends of the Library organized the event alongside the city, Del Mar-based waste hauler EDCO, the SeaWeeders Garden Club, the Solana Beach Eco-Rotary Club and Go Greenish. Each group plans to showcase environmental and sustainability efforts at the gathering.
The city's announcement promises live music and swag but does not list specific performers, speakers or demonstrations. No detailed program has been released.
California Clean Air Day is a statewide initiative organized by the Coalition for Clean Air, which calls it the state's largest clean air event. The official 2026 statewide observance falls on Wednesday, Oct. 7, but Solana Beach scheduled its local celebration for the preceding Saturday.
The Coalition for Clean Air encourages Californians to pledge individual actions for cleaner air through its website. The city's announcement also directs residents to take the pledge online.
