Santa Fe Christian beat Coastal Academy 52-7 on Friday, Sept. 25, extending the Eagles' perfect start to 6-0 and their hold on the No. 3 spot in the San Diego County Top 20.
The reigning CIF Division II San Diego Section champions have outscored opponents 299-34 through six games, according to The Coast News. Only Carlsbad and Cathedral sit ahead of the Solana Beach school in the county rankings.
Cornell-bound senior quarterback Dax Labrum completed 15 of 18 passes for 241 yards and four touchdowns against the Stingrays, The Coast News reported. Senior wide receiver Chase Woolley hauled in eight catches for 111 yards and three scores.
"The whole offense is rolling right now," Labrum told The Coast News.
Head coach Jon Wallace's staff includes Pro Football Hall of Famer Drew Brees, who serves as passing game coordinator. Brees' son Baylen is a senior wide receiver for the Eagles. The program's enrollment sits at 442 students.
In a Sept. 14 Coast News profile, Wallace called Woolley "the best receiver in the county," saying Woolley "doesn't lose a rep" on film. Woolley led San Diego County in receiving yards through four games at that point.
The Eagles opened the season with a 38-6 win over Helix on Aug. 22 and have won every game by at least 34 points, according to MaxPreps. Their six victories include a 70-0 shutout of Westview, a 41-7 road win at Isidore Newman in New Orleans and a 56-0 blanking of Army-Navy.
Santa Fe Christian returns home to Solana Beach on Friday, Oct. 2, to host King/Drew Medical Magnet of Los Angeles. King/Drew, coached by Joe Torres, won a CIF LA City Section championship in its third year of existence, according to On3. The program held a 3-2 record as of Sept. 21.
Area rival Torrey Pines checks in at No. 9 in the county poll.
