Solana Beach's annual Día de los Muertos celebration will honor the veterans of La Colonia de Eden Gardens on Sunday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at La Colonia Park, 715 Valley Ave.
The event is one of three fall happenings across Del Mar and Solana Beach running through Saturday, Oct. 31, The Coast News reported.
La Colonia de Eden Gardens holds a special place in Solana Beach history. Founded in 1920, it is the city's first neighborhood, according to the Solana Beach Civic and Historical Society. La Colonia Community Center houses a Veterans' Memorial Wall and courtyard developed in part through the efforts of first-generation resident Robert "Chuckles" Hernandez. This year's Día de los Muertos theme pays tribute to that military legacy.
Del Mar Pumpkin Station
The Del Mar Pumpkin Station is open through Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Del Mar Golf Center, 15555 Jimmy Durante Blvd. Parking and admission are free.
The pumpkin patch includes mechanical rides, train rides, giant slides and petting zoos. Each attraction requires a separate ticket.
Hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Belly Up Halloween Heat
